Austrian Airlines was founded in 1957 and is headquartered at Vienna International Airport (VIE) in Schwechat, Austria. The airline was acquired by Lufthansa Group in 2009 and is now a subsidiary of the German carrier. Through that affiliation, Austrian is a member of the Star Alliance.

The Austrian Airlines fleet consists of over 80 aircraft with the Boeing 777-200ER currently their largest. The airline flies to 130 destinations worldwide.
