southwest airlines tail logoSouthwest Airlines was founded on March 15, 1967 and commenced operations on June 18, 1971. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, the airline has a fleet of nearly 700 aircraft, all variants of the Boeing 737. They are currently the world’s largest operator of the Boeing 737 model.

The airline flies to 99 destinations, mostly in the United States and in 2012 was among the world’s top ten safest airlines. Their fleet has over 500 Boeing 737-700 airliners along with what will be over 200 B738 variants by the end of 2018. Keeping with the 737 theme, Southwest has orders in for Boeing 737 Max 7 and 737 Max 8 aircraft with the first Max 8 airliners entering service in October, 2017.
