At the time, it was still dressed in the older livery and not updated to Air Canada’s new paint job.

C-FGDX

C-FGDX took its first flight on February 14, 2016 and was delivered to Air Canada on March 10, 2016. One of 21 B789 aircraft currently in the AC fleet, it will be joined by eight more with deliveries through 2019. This airliner is configured for a maximum total of 298 passengers with 30 seats in business class, 21 more in premium economy and 247 seats in economy class.

Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is the second variant in the Boeing 787 Family, behind the 787-8. The first B789 took flight on September 17, 2013 and entered service with Air New Zealand on July 8, 2014. The first B788 was introduced nearly three years earlier in October, 2011 with All Nippon Airways.

The 787-9 is 63 metres or 206 feet in length with a wingspan of 60 metres or 197 feet. At the tail, the aircraft is 17 metres or 56 feet in height. The flight range is 14,140 kilometres, about 1,500 KM more than the Boeing 787-8. The B789 and B788 share the same wingspan but the 787-9 is six metres or 20 feet longer.

Air Canada

Air Canada was founded in 1937 as Trans Canada Air Lines. The name change came on January 1, 1965. The founding member of the Star Alliance is headquartered on the grounds of Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) in Dorval, Quebec. Star Alliance now has 27 full members while other founding members include Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Thai Airways and United Airlines.

The airline has a fleet of around 175 aircraft with the Boeing 777-300ER being the largest. These airplanes fly to over 200 destinations around the world. Including subsidiaries Air Canada Rouge and Air Canada Express, the fleet grows to just under 400 with around 350 destinations.
