C-FNOG: Air Canada Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (At Toronto Pearson)

They will completely replace the B763 by the end of the decade. We photographed C-FNOG at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) while plane spotting on September 14, 2017.

C-FNOG

C-FNOG took its first flight on August 12, 2015 and was delivered to Air Canada on August 31, 2015. As mentioned, this is one of 21 B789 aircraft currently in the AC main fleet with several more on order. Also as mentioned, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will completely replace the Boeing 767-300ER models by the end of the decade with those aging aircraft currently being phased out.

This B789 is configured for a maximum total of 298 passengers. There are 30 seats in business class with 21 more in premium economy. Economy class makes up the bulk of the total with 247 seats.

 

Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

The first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner made its maiden flight on September 17, 2013. The first to be delivered went to Air New Zealand on July 8, 2014. This variant followed the initial Boeing 787-8 model that entered service in 2011 with All Nippon Airways. Both share the same wingspan but the B789 is six metres or 20 feet longer.

The Boeing 787-9 is 63 metres or 206 feet in length with a wingspan of 60 metres or 197 feet. At the tail, the aircraft stands 17 metres or 56 feet in height.

 

Air Canada

Air Canada was founded in 1937 as Trans Canada Air Lines and is headquartered at the Air Canada Centre on the grounds of Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) in Dorval, Quebec. Currently, the fleet is around 175 aircraft in the main fleet, flying to around 200 destinations worldwide. The largest in the main fleet is the Boeing 777-300ER while the most numerous is the Airbus A320-200.

The airline is a founding member of the Star Alliance. Currently, the alliance has 27 member airlines around the world. Other founding members include Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Thai Airways and United Airlines.
