N685TA made its first flight on March 2, 2012. On March 20, 2012, the Airbus A320 was delivered to TACA Airlines (Transportes Aereos del Continente Americano) on March 20, 2012. After TACA merged with Avianca, the aircraft was transferred to Avianca El Salvador on March 31, 2014.
The Airbus A320 is the leader of the Airbus A320 family. The A321 is the extended version while the A319 and A318 are shrunken versions. The airplane is 38 metres or 123 feet in length with a wingspan of 36 metres or 118 feet. At the tail, the aircraft stands 12 metres or 39 feet in height. The flight range is 6,100 kilometres. The distance from Toronto to San Salvador is around 3,500 kilometres.
