N685TA made its first flight on March 2, 2012. On March 20, 2012, the Airbus A320 was delivered to TACA Airlines (Transportes Aereos del Continente Americano) on March 20, 2012. After TACA merged with Avianca, the aircraft was transferred to Avianca El Salvador on March 31, 2014.

This Airbus A320 is configured for a maximum total of 150 passengers. There are 12 seats in business class and 138 more in economy class.

Airbus A320-200

The Airbus A320 is the leader of the Airbus A320 family. The A321 is the extended version while the A319 and A318 are shrunken versions. The airplane is 38 metres or 123 feet in length with a wingspan of 36 metres or 118 feet. At the tail, the aircraft stands 12 metres or 39 feet in height. The flight range is 6,100 kilometres.

The first Airbus A320 was introduced in 1988 with Air France. Somewhere around 4,400 of the A320 have been built and around 7,500 aircraft from the A320 family have been put into service.

Avianca

Avianca El Salvador began as TACA Airlines in 1931. Transportes Aereos del Continente Americano merged with Avianca S.A. in May, 2013. The El Salvador subsidiary has a fleet of nearly 40 aircraft, consisting of Airbus A319, Airbus A320, Airbus A321, Airbus A330 and Embraer ERJ-190. The airline flies to 50 destinations in 22 countries. Avianca El Salvador is headquartered in San Salvador.

Avianca S.A. is the parent country, also known as Aerovias del Continente Americana S.A. The company is headquartered in Bogota, Colombia and was founded in 1919. Avianca and all its subsidiaries are members of the Star Alliance and have been full members since 2012.

With subsidiaries in Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Peru, Avianca has a fleet of 173 aircraft and flies to 114 destinations. However, as of May 10, 2020, the airline has filed for bankruptcy. Immediately, the Peru subsidiary has been liquidated. The fate of the rest of the airline remains uncertain.
