Because of this flight, Air Canada Rouge is my new favourite airline. The decision maker is biased. We were treated like royalty because a family member to be was at the head of the in-flight service staff.
Because of this connection, we were moved to the spacious seats, just behind the business class area. No, it wasn’t business class but I was unable to kick the seat in front of me if I tried. On a three hour flight, I’ll take it.
On our return flight, despite this great person not being on staff, we still got over and above treatment. We sat back in our originally booked seats in row 37. But, on a three hour flight in the late evening, I’ll take it.
Overall, even if we weren’t getting preferential treatment, Air Canada Rouge is far above other Canadian charter airlines like Sunwing and Air Transat.
By the way, the flight was from YYZ to Jardines Del Rey International Airport in Cayo Coco, Cuba. We stayed for the week at Playa Paraiso Resort.
Takeoff Video From Row 12
The only portion of the two flights during daylight hours was the takeoff from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). The view from the 12th row gave a good shot of the wing without it being a distraction.
The one downfall is that the Airbus windows seem to be smaller than those on a Boeing 737-800. No matter how I positioned the suction mounted GoPro Hero 5 Black, I wasn’t able to completely cut out the edges of the window. However, with the plus-sized seats, I had three windows to choose from…
