The initial variant in the Boeing 737 MAX Family, the Boeing 737 MAX 8 performed its maiden flight on January 29, 2016. The airliner was introduced on May 22, 2017 with launch customer Malindo Air. The B38M is 40 metres or 130 feet in length with a wingspan of 36 metres or 118 feet. At the tail, the aircraft is 12 metres or 40 feet in height. This makes the airplane slightly longer than its predecessor, the Boeing 737-800, and slightly shorter at the tail. The flight range is 6,570 kilometres, around 1,000 KM more than the B738.
