Our fifth to be featured of the 20 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in the China Eastern Airlines fleet. B-2001 entered service for the Chinese airline in 2014. We photographed this B77W on May 20, 2018 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

B-2001

B-2001 performed its maiden flight on August 13, 2014 and was delivered to China Eastern Airlines on September 25, 2014. The Boeing 777-39PER is configured for a maximum total of 316 passengers with six seats in first class, 52 more in business class and 258 economy class seats. As mentioned, this is one of 20 B77W airliners in the main China Eastern fleet.

Boeing 777-300ER

The Boeing 777-300ER was first delivered to launch customer Air France in 2004, nearly a decade after the initial 777 variant was introduced with United Airlines in 1995. The ER is for ‘extended range’ and this aircraft can fly a lofty 13,650 kilometres between stops.

The B77W is 74 metres or 242 feet in length with a wingspan of 65 metres or 213 feet. At the tail, the airliner is 19 metres or 61 feet in height. Though not the most glamorous of the big airplanes, the Boeing 777-300ER is longer than both the Boeing 747-400 (by 10 feet) and Airbus A380-800 (by 3 feet).

China Eastern Airlines was founded in June, 1988 and is headquartered within the China Eastern Airlines Building on the grounds of the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport in Shanghai, China. the member of the SkyTeam Alliance has a fleet of nearly 650 aircraft flying to nearly 250 destinations around the world.

The airline is China’s second largest carrier by passenger numbers. The fleet is led in size by the Boeing 777-300ER. The most numerous in the fleet is the Airbus A320-200.
