We photographed B-KPZ while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) on March 25, 2018. This B77W is just the fourth we’ve featured at It’s About Airplanes of those 53. So far.

B-KPZ

B-KPZ performed its maiden flight on March 13, 2012 and was delivered to Cathay Pacific on March 22, 2012. The Boeing 777-367ER is configured for a maximum total of 340 passengers with 40 seats in business class, 32 more in premium economy and 268 economy class seats. As mentioned, this is one of 53 B77W airliners in the Cathay Pacific fleet.

Boeing 777-300ER

The initial Boeing 777 variant was introduced in 1995 with United Airlines. Nearly a decade later, the first Boeing 777-300ER was delivered to launch customer Air France in 2004. The ER is for ‘extended range’ and this airplane has a flight range of 13,650 kilometres.

The B77W is 74 metres or 242 feet in length with a wingspan of 65 metres or 213 feet. At the tail, the Boeing 777-300ER is 9 metres or 61 feet in height. Compared to the iconic Boeing 747-400, the B77W is actually ten feet longer but slightly shorter at the tail.

Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific was founded on September 24, 1946 and is headquartered at Cathay City on the grounds of Hong Kong International Airport in Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong. The airline has a main fleet of nearly 130 aircraft flying to nearly 80 destinations around the world.

The largest in the fleet is the Boeing 777-300ER. However, they do have 21 Boeing 777-9 models on order. Cathay Pacific is a founding member of the Oneworld Alliance. Other founding members include American Airlines, British Airways, Qantas and the now defunct Canadian Airlines. The alliance was founded in February, 1999 and now has 13 full members worldwide.
