C-FEJF has a bit of a history with engine trouble. However, it looks like things have been figured out and this Embraer ERJ-175SU is a trustworthy carrier for Air Canada Express. We photographed this E175, operated by Sky Regional Airlines, on June 29, 2018 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

C-FEJF

C-FEJF was first delivered to Air Canada on September 6, 2005. On August 7, 2013, the Embraer ERJ-175SU was transferred to Sky Regional Airlines. Sky Regional performs flights on behalf of Air Canada Express. This airliner is configured for a maximum total of 76 passengers with 12 seats in business class and 64 economy class seats.

On April 15, 2012, C-FEJF was flying from Toronto, Ontario to Chicago, Illinois. On the climb out of Toronto, at around 24,000 feet, a BATT 2 OVERTEMP message was received. The Embraer 175 was diverted back to Toronto for a safe landing. As a result, the backshell and battery #2 were replaced.

On August 22, 2012, the engine troubles began. Flying from Toronto to Regina, Saskatchewan, crew received a low oil pressure indication for the right side engine on the climb. The airliner was leveled off at 8,000 feet. The engine was shut down and C-FEJF returned to Toronto for a safe landing.

On August 26, 2012, it was deja vu. On a flight from Winnipeg, Manitoba to Toronto, again the low oil pressure indication was received for the right side engine. The engine was again shut down and the aircraft returned to Winnipeg for a safe landing. At this point, the E175 was removed from service in order to get a handle on the problem.

Fast forward to February 5, 2015, C-FEJF was flying from Toronto to Dallas, Texas. Flying at 34,000 feet, northeast of Dallas, an A/T FAIL and an ENG TLA TRIM FAIL indication were received. The airplane declared Mayday but landed safely at it’s intended destination. As a result, the FADEC computer for the left side engine was replaced.

However, the following day, the ERJ-175 departed Dallas for Toronto and received the same faults. The airplane was able to land safely in Toronto. Upon arrival, the Generic Input Output Module 1, Actuated Input Output Processor in the Avionics Unit and the Trust Control Quadrant were replaced.
