C-FIYA

C-FIYA performed its maiden flight on September 9, 2002 and was delivered to Hawaiian Airlines as N587HA on September 23, 2002. While with that airline, the Boeing 767-33AER was named Pakalakala. Hawaiian put it into storage in September, 2015 and the airliner was delivered to Air Canada Rouge on December 3, 2015.

One of 25 Boeing 767-300ER models in the fleet, C-FIYA is configured for a maximum total of 282 passengers with 14 seats in business class and 256 economy class seats. This is in stark contrast to the B763 aircraft in the main Air Canada fleet which have seating for just 211 passengers. The main fleet has six B763 airplanes left with all to be phased out by the end of 2019.

While flying for Hawaiian Airlines as N587HA on May 9, 2014, this Boeing 767 had some problems. The flight was to go from Honolulu, Hawaii to Phoenix, Arizona. At 37,000 feet and an hour and a half into the crossing of the Pacific Ocean, crew detected a possible oil leak. It was decided to divert back to Honolulu and the aircraft landed safely nearly two hours later. The flight was able to continue after nearly two hours on the ground.

Just recently, on August 11, 2018, C-FIYA was flying from Lima, Peru to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. At 32,000 feet, 260 miles out of Lima, it was decided to divert back to the point of departure after an odour similar to dirty socks was detected in the cabin. It was a costly diversion for Air Canada as seven tons of fuel had to be dumped before the airliner could land back in Lima.

The first Boeing 767-300ER was introduced with launch customer American Airlines in 1988, seven years after the initial 767 variant entered service with United Airlines in 1981. A direct competitor to the Airbus A330-200, 583 were delivered, in all.

the B763 is 55 metres or 180 feet in length with a wingspan of 48 metres or 156 feet. At the tail, the airliner stands 16 metres or 52 feet in height. The flight range is 11,070 kilometres.

Air Canada Rouge

Air Canada Rouge was founded in December, 2012 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Air Canada. The brand has a fleet of 53 aircraft flying to 50 destinations. In the fleet, there are 25 Boeing 767-300ER, 22 Airbus A319-100 and six Airbus A321-200 models. There are plans to add four Airbus A320-200 models to the fleet in 2019. Through the main airline, Rouge is a member of the Star Alliance.
