C-FMYV is one of 25 currently in the main fleet and one of our eleven, C-FNAX, is now with Aeromexico Connect under a different registration number. We photographed C-FMYV while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) on March 25, 2018.

C-FMYV
C-FMYV was delivered to Air Canada on September 20, 2007 and, as mentioned, is one of 25 Embraer ERJ-190AR airliners in the main fleet of the Canadian airline. The E190 is configured for a maximum total of 97 passengers with nine seats in business class, 20 more seats in premium economy and 68 economy class seats.
Not even to it’s two year anniversary with Air Canada, C-FMYV had some mechanical issues. On July 27, 2009, the E190 flew from Winnipeg, Manitoba to Toronto, Ontario. After landing safely and turning onto the taxiway, hydraulic fluid began to leak onto the runway and taxiway. As a result, the aircraft had to be towed the rest of the way to the terminal.
On April 16, 2012, the Embraer ERJ-190AR was flying from Calgary, Alberta to Ottawa, Ontario. Descending into Ottawa (YOW), crew received a ‘SLAT FAIL’ warning. The approach carried on and the airliner came in for a safe landing. As a result, the slat harnesses at positions 2, 3 and 4 were replaced.
Just over a year later, on April 26, 2013, the Embraer 190 was flying from Calgary to Vancouver, British Columbia. The takeoff was rejected from YYC due to a strong smell and smoke appearing in the flight deck. As a result, the left side air cycle machine, the recirculation fans and filtres were replaced.
On the very next day, April 27, 2013, there was trouble again. Now to perform a flight from Calgary to Ottawa, the captain’s radio panel failed just after leveling at 35,000 feet. Then, about 170 miles past Winnipeg, Manitoba, crew received an ‘avionics MAU 2B failure’ indication. C-FMYV diverted to Winnipeg for a safe landing. As a result, the #1 digital audio panel and the #1 VHF data radio were replaced.
Embraer ERJ-190AR
The first Embraer ERJ-190 took flight on March 12, 2004 and the first was delivered to launch customer JetBlue in 2005. JetBlue remains the top operator of this type of aircraft today. The E190 is 36 metres or 119 feet in length with a wingspan of 29 metres or 94 feet. At the tail, the airliner stands eleven metres or 35 feet in height. The flight range is 4,537 kilometres.
Air Canada
Air Canada was founded as Trans Canada Air Lines in 1937 and commenced operations under its current name in 1965. Headquartered at the Air Canada Centre on the grounds of Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) in Dorval, Quebec, the airline has a main fleet of around 175 aircraft flying to over 200 destinations around the world. With subsidiaries added in, those numbers increase to over 400 airplanes flying to 350 destinations worldwide.
The airline is a founding member of the Star Alliance. Other founding members include Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Thai Airways and United Airlines. There are now 27 member airlines around the world.
