C-FNAX: Air Canada Embraer ERJ-190AR Landing At YYZ

c-fnax air canada embraer erj-190ar yyz torontoNot long after these images of C-FNAX were taken, the Embraer ERJ-190AR was mothballed by Air Canada, put into storage. Since, the airplane has belonged to Delta Air Lines for a short while but is again in storage. C-FNAX is now registered as N674BC.

C-FNAX

C-FNAX was first delivered to Air Canada on March 1, 2008. With Air Canada, the airplane was configured with nine business class seats and 88 in economy class (20 of which were preferred seating).

In December of 2015, C-FNAX was put into storage and the registration changed to N674BC. This is one of 15 ERJ-190’s put into storage by Air Canada during 2015 and 2016. AC now has 25 similar aircraft in their fleet but this was is no longer included.

From May, 2016 until January 13, 2017, N674BC was under the Delta Air Lines flag but has since been put into storage under Nordic Aviation Capital.

On May 27, 2014, C-FNAX was on a flight from Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) to Calgary International Airport (YYC) with 95 on board. Just out of Montreal, an emergency was declared due to reports of emissions of an unknown nature in the cabin. The aircraft landed back in Montreal safely.

Embraer ERJ-190AR

Air Canada configures their Embraer ERJ-190‘s for 97 passengers. In a single class configuration, the airplane can seat up to 124. The first ERJ-190 made its maiden flight on March 12, 2004. It was first delivered to JetBlue in 2005. Air Canada and JetBlue are two of the airplane’s top users.

The ERJ-190 is 36 metres or 119 feet in length with a wingspan of 29 metres or 94 feet. At the tail, the aircraft stands eleven metres or 35 feet high. Maximum flight range for the AR version is 4,537 kilometres.

Embraer was founded in 1947 and is headquartered in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The company is in direct competition with the Canada based Bombardier Aerospace.

The member of the Star Alliance has become one of the fastest growing airlines in North America with new destinations seemingly on a weekly basis. Air Canada was founded as Trans-Canada Air Lines in 1937. The name change came on New Year’s Day in 1965.

There are currently 169 aircraft in Air Canada’s fleet with more than 200 destinations worldwide. The airline is headquartered at Air Canada Centre on the grounds of Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport in Dorval, Quebec.
