C-FPQB is currently one of 25 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft in the main Air Canada fleet. We photographed the B789 on July 2, 2017 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), not long after the airliner’s first anniversary with Air Canada.

C-FPQB performed its maiden flight on April 27, 2016 and was delivered to Air Canada on May 24, 2016. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is configured for a maximum total of 298 passengers with 30 seats in business class, 21 more seats in premium economy and 247 economy class seats. As mentioned, this is one of 25 B789 aircraft currently in the Air Canada fleet with four more on order.
Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner
The first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flew on September 17, 2013. Air New Zealand is the launch customer, taking their first delivery of a B789 on July 8, 2014. This came nearly three years after the initial Boeing 787-8 variant was introduced with All Nippon Airways in October, 2011.
The Boeing 787-9 is 63 metres or 206 feet in length, 20 feet longer than the initial B788 variant. The wingspan is 60 metres or 197 feet while the height at the tail is 17 metres or 56 feet. The flight range for this airliner is 14,140 kilometres. This is around 500 KM further than the B788 can fly. The Boeing 787-10 variant will be introduced in the near future and will be 18 feet longer than the Boeing 787-9. However, the flight range will be over 200 KM less.
Air Canada
Air Canada was founded in 1937 as Trans Canada Air Lines, under the management of the Canadian National Railway. In 1965, the Canadian airline officially commenced operations under its current name. Air Canada is headquartered on the grounds of Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) in Dorval, Quebec and is a founding member of the Star Alliance.
The airline has a main fleet of around 175 aircraft flying to over 200 destinations worldwide. With subsidiaries included, Air Canada has a fleet of over 400 airliners flying to 350 destinations around the world. The largest in the fleet is the Boeing 777-300ER while the most numerous is the Airbus A320-200. However, many of those A320 are slated for retirement in the near future.
