C-FRSO

C-FRSO performed its first flight on February 24, 2017 and was delivered to Air Canada on March 23, 2017. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is configured for a maximum number of 298 passengers. There are 30 seats in business class, 21 more in premium economy and 247 economy class seats. This is currently one of 27 B789 models in the main fleet of the Canadian airline with two more expected before the end of 2019.

On May 13, 2017, just a few months after beginning service with Air Canada, C-FRSO was flying from Calgary, Alberta to London, England. At 37,000 feet, 200 miles west of Iqaluit, Nunavut in Canada’s arctic, crew experience some abnormal control issues. It was observed that the #10 spoiler was floating about five inches above the wing surface. The flight was diverted back to Toronto, Ontario for a safe landing.

Two years later, on May 29, 2018, C-FRSO was flying from Calgary to Frankfurt, Germany. Cruising over the Atlantic Ocean at 38,000 feet, crew detected loss of engine oil from the #1 engine at about 550 miles northeast of Goose Bay, Labrador. The flight was diverted to Goose Bay for a safe landing. As a result, the VFSG and carbon seal were replaced.

At the tail, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner stands 17 metres or 56 feet in height.
