C-FWVJ
Officially a Boeing 737-8CT with split scimitar winglets, C-FWVJ took its first flight on November 23, 2011. On December 13, 2011, the aircraft was delivered to Westjet. The plane is leased from BOC Aviation, one of the largest aircraft leasing companies in the world. C-FWVJ is configured with 12 plus seats and 156 more in standard economy.
Boeing 737-800
At 40 metres or 130 feet in length, the Boeing 737-800 is a stretched version of the Boeing 737-700 with an additional 19 feet. The wingspan is 36 metres or 118 feet and at the tail, the aircraft stands 13 metres or 41 feet in height.
In direct competition with the Airbus A320, the first Boeing 737-800 entered service with Hapaq-Lloyd Flug (now TUIfly) in 1998. The maximum flight range for this type of aircraft is 4,300 kilometres.
Westjet Airlines
Westjet was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. The airline has a fleet of 119 aircraft, consisting of Boeing 737-600, 737-700, 737-800 and 737-300ER. Westjet has Boeing 737 Max 7 and Max 8 airplanes on order. The airline currently flies to 91 destinations.
Westjet Encore is a wholly owned subsidiary of Westjet that flies Bombardier Q400 propeller planes. Their fleet and destinations are not included in the numbers above.
BOC Aviation
The largest aircraft operating leasing company that is headquartered in Asia. BOC Aviation dates back to 1993 and was acquired in December, 2006 by the Bank of China. Stock in the company is currently traded at the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong.
BOC has a total fleet size of 268, with airplanes from the Embraer E190 Family to Boeing 787-8, with large sized Airbus A330 and Boeing 777, along the way. BOC leases to 68 airlines in 32 countries around the world.
