The equivalent of a Boeing 737-900ER, C-GJWI is one of 15 Airbus A321-200 aircraft in the main Air Canada fleet. We photographed this particular A321, sporting the latest Air Canada livery, while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) on September 14, 2017.

C-GJWI
C-GJWI took its maiden flight on May 1, 2002 and was delivered to Air Canada on June 28, 2002. The Airbus A321-211 is configured for a maximum total of 190 passengers with 16 seats in business class and 174 more seats in economy class.
A rough landing back on February 3, 2008 almost ended it all for C-GJWI. Flying from Toronto, Ontario to Edmonton, Alberta, the A321 experienced a heavy tailstrike and bounced on landing before crew were able to regain control. Heavy damage was done to the aircraft.
More recently, on November 12, 2014, the airliner was flying from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Toronto, Ontario. During the flight, crew noticed a green hydraulic system loss of pressure and quantity indication. The aircraft continued to Toronto and landed safely but needed to stop on the runway and be towed to the apron with no nose wheel steering capabilities.
Airbus A321-200
The largest of the Airbus A320 Family, the Airbus A321-200 is 45 metres or 146 feet in length, 23 feet longer than the initial A320 variant in the family of airliners. The aircraft has a wingspan of 36 metres or 118 feet and stands 12 metres or 39 feet in height at the tail. The flight range is 5,950 kilometres.
The A321-200 was first introduced in April, 1997 with Monarch Airlines. This came three years after the scarcely built A321-100 variant was introduced with Lufthansa. Since 1992, nearly 1,500 have been built.
Air Canada
Air Canada was founded in 1937 and was originally named Trans Canada Air Lines. The official name change came on January 1, 1965. The Canadian airline has a main fleet of around 175 aircraft flying to over 200 destinations worldwide. Add in subsidiaries Air Canada Express and Air Canada Rouge and those numbers inflate to over 400 aircraft and 350 destinations.
Air Canada is headquartered on the grounds of Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and is a founding member of the Star Alliance. The largest aircraft flying for the airline at the moment is the Boeing 777-300ER while the most numerous is the Airbus A320-200.
