We captured C-GOIK in its first month with Air Transat. It was also the first few days of the Canadian airline’s restart after shutting down due to COVID-19. We photographed this Airbus A321neo (A321LR) while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) on July 24, 2020.

C-GOIK

C-GOIK performed its first flight on June 10, 2020. The Airbus A321LR was delivered to Air Transat on July 1, 2020. This is one of six currently in service with nine more on order. These models replace the airline’s historic fleet of Airbus A310-300 aircraft.

Airbus A321neo

The Airbus A321LR is a variant of the Airbus A321neo. This model was launched on January 13, 2015. The first was delivered to launch customer Arkia on November 13, 2018. Arkia was founded in 1949 as Israel Inland Airlines. The Israeli airline is headquartered in Tel Aviv and flies a fleet of seven aircraft to 25 destinations.

This airplane is 44.51 metres or 146 feet in length. The wingspan is 35.8 metres or 117 feet. The height at the tail is 11.76 metres or 39 feet. The LR designation means this airliner can fly 7,400 kilometres in a single flight, nearly 1,000 more than a regular Airbus A321-200.

Air Transat

Air Transat commenced operations in 1987 and is headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The airline has a fleet of 31 aircraft flying to nearly 80 destinations. The largest in the fleet is the Airbus A330-300.

As of May, 2019, the airline was to be purchased by Air Canada. The acquisition was scapped in April, 2021.
