C-GTQX

C-GTQX performed its maiden flight on February 2, 2007 and was delivered to XL Airways on February 13, 2007 as G-XLAL. Since, the Boeing 737-8FH has flown seasonally for TUIfly, Gulf Air, XL Airways Germany, Sunwing Airlines, CanJet Airlines, SmartWings and Travel Service. The aircraft has wintered with Air Transat since 2014. It currently spends summers with SmartWings as OK-TSC. This is evident by the hybrid livery. The airliner is configured a maximum total of 189 passengers in a single class system.

On March 20, 2012, the B738 was flying for CanJet as C-GDGQ on a flight from Holguin, Cuba to Montreal, Quebec. Climbing through 10,000 feet on the initial ascent out of Holguin, the red park brake light turned on. The flight continued to Montreal for a safe landing. The result was the replacement of a park brake valve.

Things got a little more serious on December 18, 2015 when the aircraft was flying for Air Transat from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic to Toronto, Ontario. Climbing out of Puerto Plata, the electrical trim system controlling the horizontal stabilizers failed and the autopilot disengaged. An emergency was declared and C-GTQX was diverted to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for a safe landing.

The Boeing 737-800 is 40 metres or 130 feet in length with a wingspan of 36 metres or 118 feet. At the tail, the airliner is 13 metres or 41 feet in height. The flight range is 5,436 kilometres.
