C-GXRW had a day for the birds in September, 2019. Running into a flock of sparrows is one thing. The Swoop Boeing 737-800 ran into a number of geese while taking off from Abbotsford, British Columbia. More on that below.
We photographed this B738 on July 14, 2019 while plane spotting at John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM).

C-GXRW
C-GXRW performed its first flight on July 6, 2015. The Boeing 737-8CT was delivered to WestJet Airlines on July 30, 2015. The B738 was then transferred to ultra low cost brand Swoop on July 15, 2018.
Named #bob by the Canadian airline, this aircraft is configured for a maximum total of 189 passengers. These seats are all in a single class setup.
On September 10, 2019, the airliner was flying from Abbotsford, British Columbia to Edmonton, Alberta. On the climb, several geese were ingested by the right side engine. This was followed by bangs and streaks of flame. That was enough for the crew to stop the climb at 8,000 feet and head back to their point of departure for a safe landing.
