The 5th oldest Airbus A340-300 in the main Lufthansa fleet, D-AIGP has been with the German airline since 1998. We photographed this A343 on March 18, 2022 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

D-AIGP
D-AIGP performed its first flight on December 9, 1998. The Airbus A340-343 was delivered to Lufthansa on December 30, 1998. At the time, it was named Paderborn by the Germany based airline.
On August 14, 2015, this A343 was transferred to the fleet of Lufthansa CityLine. This is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group and currently operates a fleet of 50 aircraft flying to 50 destinations domestically and around Europe.
CityLine was founded in 1958 and is headquartered in Munich, Germany. They no longer fly anything larger than an Airbus A319-100 for passenger service.
D-AIGP was returned to the main fleet on June 1, 2020 sporting a Star Alliance livery. The airliner is configured for a maximum total of 279 passengers. There are 30 seats in business class, 28 in premium economy and 221 more in economy class.
This is one of 17 A343 aircraft currently in the fleet and it is the fifth oldest. There are also ten Airbus A340-600 models.
On October 10, 2008, this airplane has some issues on a flight from Charlotte, North Carolina to Munich, Germany. After takeoff, the aircraft had to return to Charlotte 45 minutes later after smoke was detected in the cockpit. The flight was cancelled and the airplane returned empty to Munich the next day. It was returned to service the day after that.

Airbus A340-300
The Aribus A340-300 was the first variant produced in the A340 family. The first flight took place on October 25, 1991. The four engine aircraft was introduced in 1993 with Lufthansa and Air France. Between 1991 and 2008, 218 of these airliners were built. Less than half that number remain in service today.
The A343 in 63.66 metres or 209 feet in length. The wingspan is 60.3 metres or 198 feet. At the tail, the airplane stands 17 metres or 56 feet in height. The flight range is 13,500 kilometres or 7,300 nautical miles.
Lufthansa
Lufthansa was founded in 1953 and commenced operations in 1955. The airline is headquartered in Cologne, Germany, using Frankfurt and Munich as main hubs. The German airline has a main fleet of nearly 280 aircraft flying to 220 destinations around the world. The fleet is led by Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 747-8 aircraft with still eight Boeing 747-400 remaining, for now.
The airline is a founding member of the Star Alliance. Other founding members include Scandinavian Airlines, Thai Airways, Air Canada and United Airlines. The alliance is headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, Germany and now has 26 full member airlines.
