Flying into its third decade, G-YMME has lived a safe life. That is, other than a fuel leak issue back in 2004 (more on that below). We photographed this Boeing 777-200ER on August 11, 2019 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

G-YMME

G-YMME performed its first flight on April 5, 2000. The Boeing 777-236ER was delivered to British Airways on April 16, 2000. This is one of 43 Boeing 777-200ER models in the main fleet.

The aircraft is configured for a maximum total of 332 passengers. There are 32 seats in business class, 48 more in premium economy and 252 economy class seats.

On June 11, 2004, this B772 was flying from London Heathrow to Harare, Zimbabwe. After taking off, a vapour trail was detected streaming from the airliner. A probable fuel leak was determined from the centre wing fuel tank. An emergency was declared and fuel was dumped.

The airplane came in for a safe landing back at Heathrow. A missing purge door inside the left main landing gear bay, at the rear of the centre wing tank. It was determined the door had been removed during maintenance between May 2 and May 10 in the previous month and had not been refitted.
