HL8045 is another first for It’s About Airplanes. This aircraft is our first Korean Air Cargo Boeing 777 Freighter to be featured at the site. We photographed this airplane on June 14, 2020 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

HL8045

HL8045 performed its first flight on October 21, 2016. The Boeing 777-FB5 was delivered to Korean Air Cargo on October 31, 2016. This is one of 12 Boeing 777 freighters in the fleet. Along with seven Boeing 747-8f and four Boeing 747-400f aircraft, the Korean Air Cargo fleet consists of a total of 23 planes.

Boeing 777f

The first Boeing 777F was delivered to Air France on February 19, 2009. The freighter shares dimensions with the Boeing 777-200LR passenger plane. As of December, 2017, 138 of this variant had been delivered among 16 different customers with another 30 airplanes on order.

The Boeing 777F is 64 metres or 209 feet in length with a wingspan of 65 metres or 213 feet. At the tail, the aircraft stands 19 metres or 61 feet in height. The flight range is 9,200 kilometres.

Korean Air

Korean Air was founded in 1946 as Korean National Airlines. The airline is headquartered in Gonghang-Dong, Gangseo-Gu, Seoul, South Korea. Korean Air flies to 150 destinations worldwide with a fleet of nearly 180 aircraft.

The most in the fleet will soon be the Boeing 777-300ER with 20 currently flying and ten more on order. There are ten Airbus A380-800 aircraft in the fleet with no plans to increase that number.

The airline is a founding member of the SkyTeam Alliance, along with AeroMexico, Air France and Delta Air Lines. SkyTeam was established in June, 2000 and has 20 full member airlines in the alliance.
