N481UA had a rough spell in 2014 with a near collision and major bird strike. Besides that, the Airbus A320-200 has flown faithfully for United Airlines since 2001. We photographed this A320 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) on April 17, 2019.

N481UA

N481UA performed its first flight on July 31, 2001. The Airbus A320-232 was delivered to United Airlines on December 13, 2001. From 2004 to 2009, this A320 flew for the now defunct leisure brand for United named Ted.

This airliner is configured for a maximum total of 150 passengers. There are 12 seats in first class, 42 more in premium economy and 96 economy class seats. This one of 99 Airbus A320-200 models in the main United Airlines fleet.

On May 8, 2014, N481UA was flyin from Houston, Texas to Mexico City, Mexico. A miscommunication caused this airplane to come within 400 feet of each other just after takeoff. The other aircraft was also a United A320, N435UA, heading to Vancouver, British Columbia. The issue was resolved and both aircraft carried on without further incident.

Later that year, on September 15, 2014, N481UA was flying from Chicago, Illinois to Denver, Colorado. On final approach, a bird impacted the front of the aircraft. After a safe landing, damage to the radome was identified.
