Nearly 17 years in the sky with United Airlines, N498UA has been with the U.S. airline since 2002. We photographed the Airbus A320-200 on September 8, 2019 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

N498UA

N498UA performed its maiden flight on September 10, 2002. The Airbus A320-232 was delivered to United Airlines on October 17, 2002. From 2004 to 2009, this A320 was moved to subsidiary TED before returning to the main fleet.

This airliner is configured for a maximum total of 150 passengers. There are 12 seats in first class, 42 more in premium economy and 96 economy class seats. This is one of 98 A320 models currently in the main fleet with four more used aircraft set to join in the near future.

Airbus A320-200

The Airbus A320 is the leader of the Airbus A320 family. The A321 is the extended version while the A319 and A318 are shrunken versions. The airplane is 38 metres or 123 feet in length with a wingspan of 36 metres or 118 feet. At the tail, the aircraft stands 12 metres or 39 feet in height. The flight range is 6,100 kilometres.

The first Airbus A320 was introduced in 1988 with Air France. Somewhere around 4,400 of the A320 have been built and around 7,500 aircraft from the A320 family have been put into service.

United Airlines

United Airlines was founded in 1926 and commenced operations in 1931. Headquartered at the Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower) in Chicago, Illinois, United is a member of the Star Alliance. The airline has a main fleet of over 750 aircraft flying to nearly 350 destinations around the world. The largest in the fleet is the Boeing 777-300ER while the most numerous is the Boeing 737-800.
