N811UA performed its first flight on June 10, 1998. The Airbus A319-131 was delivered to United Airlines on July 2, 1998. This airliner is configured for a maximum total of 128 passengers. There are eight seats in first class, 42 more in premium economy and 78 economy class seats.
This is one of 72 Airbus A319-100 models currently in the main United fleet. There are 34 more A319 airplanes on order. These are coming used from EasyJet, a European ultra low cost carrier and China Southern Airlines.
On February 10, 2018, N811UA was flying from Houston, Texas to Portland, Oregon. On approach to Portland, the aircraft struck a bird. The Airbus A319-100 continued for a safe landing but did receive damage from the incident. However, it was back up and flying eight hours later. The bird was not.

Airbus A319-100
The maiden flight of the Airbus A319-100 occurred on August 25, 1995 with the aircraft introduced with launch customer Swissair in 1996. The shortened version of the Airbus A320-200, the A319 is 34 metres or 111 feet in length with a wingspan of 36 metres or 118 feet. At the tail, the airplane is 12 metres or 39 feet in height. The flight range is 6,950 kilometres.
United Airlines
United Airlines was founded in 1926 and commenced operations in 1931. Headquartered at the Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower) in Chicago, Illinois, United is a member of the Star Alliance. The airline has a main fleet of over 750 aircraft flying to nearly 350 destinations around the world. The largest in the fleet is the Boeing 777-300ER while the most numerous is the Boeing 737-800.
