N842UA performed its first flight on July 21, 2001. The Airbus A319-131 was delivered to United Airlines on September 4, 2001. This aircraft is configured for a maximum total of 128 passengers with eight seats in first class, 42 more in premium economy and 78 economy class seats. this is one of 71 A319 airliners in the United Airlines main fleet with 34 more to be added.
With no mechanical issues of note over its long career in the skies, N842UA did a have passenger incident on November 22, 2010. On a flight from San Francisco, California to Vancouver, British Columbia, the A319 was just south of Portland, Oregon flying at 38,000 feet when a male passenger fell seriously ill. The man was suffering from diabetic shock. The airplane was diverted to Portland for a safe landing and the passenger was taken to hospital.

Airbus A319-100
The maiden flight of the Airbus A319-100 occurred on August 25, 1995 with the aircraft introduced with launch customer Swissair in 1996. The shortened version of the Airbus A320-200, the A319 is 34 metres or 111 feet in length with a wingspan of 36 metres or 118 feet. At the tail, the airplane is 12 metres or 39 feet in height. The flight range is 6,950 kilometres.
United Airlines
United Airlines was founded in 1926 and commenced operations in 1931. Headquartered at the Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower) in Chicago, Illinois, United is a member of the Star Alliance. The airline has a main fleet of over 750 aircraft flying to nearly 350 destinations around the world. The largest in the fleet is the Boeing 777-300ER while the most numerous is the Boeing 737-800.
