N8671D

N8671D took its first flight on October 22, 2015 and was delivered to Southwest Airlines on November 5, 2015. The Boeing 737-8H4 is configured for a maximum total of 175 passengers in a single class setup. This is one of 184 B738 variants in the Southwest Airlines fleet with 18 more on order. Also, the airline has 197 Boeing 737 MAX 8 models being delivered in the near future. N8671D is decorated in the ‘Heart’ livery, a paint scheme introduced in 2014.

Boeing 737-800

The most popular variant of the Boeing 737 Next Generation Family, there have been over 4,500 Boeing 737-800 models delivered to airlines around the world. The first entered service in 1998 with Hapaq-Lloyd Flug (TUIfly).

The B738 is 40 metres or 130 feet in length, 19 feet longer than the Boeing 737-700. The wingspan is 36 metres or 118 feet and at the tail, the airliner stands 13 metres or 41 feet in height. The flight range is 5,436 kilometres and this airplane is a direct competitor to the Airbus A320-200.

Southwest Airlines

Southwest Airlines was founded on March 15, 1967 and commenced operations on June 18, 1971. The airline is headquartered in Dallas, Texas and has a fleet of 712 aircraft flying to 100 destinations. The fleet consists entirely of Boeing 737 variants with over 500 being the Boeing 737-700. This is the world’s largest operator of the Boeing 737 aircraft.

The current fleet consists of Boeing 737-700 and Boeing 737-800 models with the first Boeing 737 MAX 8 models starting to enter service. Southwest will be the launch customer of the shorter Boeing 737 MAX 7 when it comes out.
