On loan from SmartWings in Europe for the winter months of 2017-18, OK-TVU is a Boeing 737-800 flying for Sunwing Airlines. We photographed this B738 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) on February 24, 2018. The photos were taken with a Canon Rebel T6i DSLR Camera.

OK-TVU
OK-TVU took its maiden flight on March 8, 2012 and was delivered to Travel Service, an airline out of the Czech Republic, on March 22, 2012. Since, it has been seasonally leased out to such airlines as Oman Air, SmartWings and Sunwing’s Canadian rival, Air Transat. The past two winters, the Boeing 737-86N has been leased to Sunwing. In 2016-17, it took on the Canada based registration number C-GKVU.
The Boeing 737-800 is configured for a maximum total of 189 passengers, all in a single class system. This is one of several B738 aircraft leased seasonally by Sunwing from European based airlines. Sunwing does have 17 full-time Boeing 737-800 models in their fleet.
OK-TVU is currently painted with a special Iberostar Resorts livery with a standard orange Sunwing tail and Travel Service winglets. Interestingly, we went to Iberostar Ensenachos in Cuba back in April, 2017 and we flew with Air Transat, not Sunwing.
Boeing 737-800
The stretched version of the initial Boeing 737-700 variant in the Boeing 737 Next Generation Family, the Boeing 737-800 first entered service in 1998. The direct competitor to the Airbus A320-200 has had over 4,500 delivered and is by far the most popular variant in the 737 NG Family.
The B738 is 40 metres or 130 feet in length with a wingspan of 36 metres or 118 feet. At the tail, the aircraft is 13 metres or 41 feet in height. The flight range is 5,436 kilometres.
Sunwing Airlines
Sunwing Airlines was founded and commenced operations in 2005. The airline is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. Sunwing flies to over 70 destinations in the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America and South America with a fluctuating fleet of aircraft. The airline does only fly Boeing 737-800 models. However, they do have four Boeing 737 MAX 8 variants on order with deliveries to begin in March, 2018.
