With the fleet China Southern Airlines has, it would be nice to see something different at Toronto than Boeing 777-300ER models like B-7183. At least send a Boeing 787-9 or an Airbus A380-800 once in a while. We photographed this B77W on September 8, 2019 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

Boeing 777-300ER

The Boeing 777-300ER was first delivered to launch customer Air France in 2004, nearly a decade after the initial 777 variant was introduced with United Airlines in 1995. The ER is for ‘extended range’ and this aircraft can fly a lofty 13,650 kilometres between stops.

The B77W is 74 metres or 242 feet in length with a wingspan of 65 metres or 213 feet. At the tail, the airliner is 19 metres or 61 feet in height. Though not the most glamorous of the big airplanes, the Boeing 777-300ER is longer than both the Boeing 747-400 (by 10 feet) and Airbus A380-800 (by 3 feet).

China Southern Airlines

China Southern Airlines was founded on July 1, 1988 and is headquartered at Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. CSAir was the eleventh member to join the SkyTeam Alliance, joining in 2007. There are now 20 full members airlines in the alliance.

The airline has a fleet of nearly 650 aircraft (including the aircraft in their cargo division). China Southern flies to over 215 destinations around the world. The most numerous airliner found in the fleet is the Boeing 737-800 with over 160. They are one of a select few airlines flying Airbus A380-800 variants with five in service.
