Somehow, we made it through the years without capturing an AeroMexico aircraft here at It’s About Airplanes. XA-AMB became our first. We photographed this Boeing 737-800 on August 7, 2020 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

XA-AMB performed its first flight on June 5, 2013. The Boeing 737-852 was delivered to AeroMexico on June 21, 2013. This is one of 31 B738 models currently in the fleet of the Mexican airline.

This airliner is configured for a maximum total of 160 passengers. There are 16 seats in business class (clase premier), 18 more in premium economy (clase AM plus) and 126 economy class seats (clase turista).

The most popular variant in the Boeing 737 Next Generation Family, there have been over 4,500 Boeing 737-800 models delivered to airlines around the world. The first B738 entered service in 1998. The aircraft is a direct competitor to the Airbus A320-200.

The Boeing 737-800 is 40 metres or 130 feet in length with a wingspan of 36 metres or 118 feet. At the tail, the airplane stands 13 metres or 41 feet in height. The flight range is 5,436 kilometres.

AeroMexico

AeroMexico was founded and commenced operations in 1934. The member of the SkyTeam Alliance is headquartered and has its main hub in Mexico City. It has secondary hubs in Guadalajara and Monterrey.

The airline has a fleet of over 60 aircraft, all Boeing models. The most numerous is the Boeing 737-800. The largest in the fleet is the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. AeroMexico flies to nearly 90 destinations around the world.
