C-FHNV

C-FHNV was delivered to Air Canada on April 4, 2007. The Embraer ERJ-190AR is one of 25 in the main fleet and is configured for a maximum total of 97 passengers. The airliner has nine seats in business class and 88 economy class seats.

The first officer of this airplane had some issues on a flight from Calgary, Alberta to Newark, New Jersey back on May 30, 2013. At 37,000 feet, just north of Toronto, Ontario, an emergency was declared after the first officer became incapacitated. The flight was diverted to Toronto for a safe landing. The aircraft stopped on the runway where an ambulance picked up the first officer and took him to hospital. It was thought that the crew member had suffered some kind of seizure during the flight.

Flying on 9/11 has to still always conjure up some nervousness in the back of passenger’s mind. On September 11, 2013, C-FHNV had an incident worthy of some nervousness. On a flight form Calgary, Alberta to Ottawa, Ontario, the right side engine shut down at 39,000 feet over Lake Superior. An emergency was declared and the flight was diverted to Toronto for a safe landing. The issue was with the right hand full authority digital engine control (FADEC), which was replaced as a result.

Most recently, on April 21, 2017, C-FHNV was flying from Montreal, Quebec to Halifax, Nova Scotia. On the initial climb out of YUL, the Embraer ERJ-190AR was leveled off at 4,000 feet after smoke was detected in the cockpit. The airliner returned to Montreal for a safe landing shortly after taking off. The smoke was caused by burnt debris in an air duct off the right side engine, an engine that had been replaced just prior to this flight.

The E190 is 36 metres or 119 feet in length with a wingspan of 29 metres or 94 feet. At the tail, the airplanes stands eleven metres or 35 feet in height.  The flight range is 4,537 kilometres.
