C-FWGH has been with Canadian charter airline Sunwing since 2015 after coming over from TUIfly. Previous to that, the Boeing 737-800 was with the now defunct Air Berlin. We photographed this B738 on February 17, 2020 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

C-FWGH

C-FWGH performed its first flight on October 27, 2011. The Boeing 737-86J was delivered to Air Berlin on November 14, 2011 as D-ABMC. It retained that registration after being delivered to TUIfly on April 1, 2013. It was put into storage in March, 2015.

The aircraft was delivered to Sunwing on May 6, 2015. Since, it has been periodically leased to Thomson Airways at TUI Airways. One of 34 Boeing 737-800 models in the fleet, this airliner is configured for a maximum total of 189 passengers.

On July 21, 2017, the B738 was flying for Thompson Airways from Belfast, Ireland to Kerkyra, Greece. Issues were detected on the takeoff and it took an unusually long time to get into the air. The flight continued as planned. On the ground in Belfast, a bent runway light was found, suggesting the aircraft wasn’t quite following a straight line.

Back with Sunwing, this airplane had problems on December 28, 2018. On a flight from Rio Hato, Panama to Toronto, Ontario, crew received a traffic advisory while cruising at 36,000 feet over Cayo Largo, Cuba. Crew detected an aircraft climbing towards them. A climb was immediately initiated to avoid the other aircraft. The conflicting aircraft passed just an estimated 400 feet below the Sunwing plane. The other airplane was a Falcon 900EX belonging to the Cuban government.
