Just over eight years in the skies and C-FYXF is already with its third airline. The Airbus A321-200 started out with Air Berlin in 2012 and moved to Austria’s Niki for a short time in 2017 before switching to Air Canada Rouge in June, 2018. We photographed the A321 on August 11, 2018 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

C-FYXF
C-FYXF performed its maiden flight on February 8, 2012 and was delivered to Air Berlin on February 16, 2012 as D-ABCI. Air Berlin was founded in 1978 and commenced operations in 1979. Headquartered in Berlin, Germany, the airline ceased operations on October 27, 2017.
On January 20, 2017, the Airbus A321-211 was delivered to Niki, a low cost carrier from Austria, as OE-LCI. Niki was founded in 2003 and ceased operations on December 14, 2017. The airline was headquartered in Schwechat, Austria and the A321 was the largest and most numerous in the fleet. OE-LCI was mothballed in November, 2017.
On June 19, 2018, C-FYXF was delivered to Air Canada Rouge, low cost subsidiary of Canada’s largest airline. This is one of six A321 airliners in the Rouge fleet with 15 more in the main Air Canada fleet. The airplane is configured for a maximum total of 200 seats with 16 seats in ‘Premium Rouge’ and 184 economy class seats.
Airbus A321-200
The largest in the Airbus A320 Family, the Airbus A321-200 first flew with launch customer Monarch Airlines in April, 1997. A rare, earlier version of the A321, the A321-100, was introduced with Lufthansa three years earlier in March, 1994.
The A321 is 45 metres or 146 feet in length (23 feet longer than the A320) and has a wingspan of 36 metres or 118 feet. At the tail, the aircraft stands 12 metres or 39 feet in height. The flight range is 5,950 kilometres. In all, nearly 1,500 have entered service.
Air Canada Rouge
Air Canada Rouge was founded in December, 2012 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Air Canada. The brand has a fleet of 53 aircraft flying to 50 destinations. In the fleet, there are 25 Boeing 767-300ER, 22 Airbus A319-100 and six Airbus A321-200 models. There are plans to add four Airbus A320-200 models to the fleet in 2019. Through the main airline, Rouge is a member of the Star Alliance.
