An aging bird, entering service in 1992, D-ABUA has stayed true to Condor since the beginning. We photographed the Boeing 767-300ER at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) while plane spotting on July 10, 2018.

D-ABUA
D-ABUA took its first flight on September 15, 1992 and was delivered to Condor on October 2, 1992. The Boeing 767-330ER is configured for a maximum total of 259 passengers with 18 seats in business class, 35 more in premium economy and 206 economy class seats. This is one of 16 B763 aircraft in the Condor fleet.
On March 12, 2012, D-ABUA was to fly from Frankfurt, Germany to Nairobi, Kenya. The climb was stopped at 5,000 feet after an aft toilet smoke warning was received, along with a strong smell of burnt oil on the flight deck and in the cabin, causing some to develop headaches and a burning sensation in the eyes. The Boeing 767-300ER was diverted back to Frankfurt for a safe landing. A replacement B763 (D-ABUF) was brought in to carry out the flight.
Fast forward two years. On April 1, 2014, the B763 was flying from Vienna, Austria to Mombasa, Kenya. The climb was stopped at 33,000 feet due to electrical problems resulting from a generator on board. At first, the crew requested to divert to Budapest, Hungary but then put in a second request to return to Vienna. The aircraft landed safely and was able to depart again for its destination the following day.
Another two years passed before the aircraft’s next issue. On March 12, 2016, D-ABUA was flying from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Frankfurt, Germany. The climb was stopped at 8,000 feet after experiencing a bird strike. The result was a return to Rio and a delay of 24 hours to reach Frankfurt.
Boeing 767-300ER
The first Boeing 767-300ER was introduced with launch customer American Airlines in 1988, seven years after the initial 767 variant entered service with United Airlines in 1981. A direct competitor to the Airbus A330-200, 583 were delivered, in all.
the B763 is 55 metres or 180 feet in length with a wingspan of 48 metres or 156 feet. At the tail, the airliner stands 16 metres or 52 feet in height. The flight range is 11,070 kilometres.
Condor Flugdienst
Condor Flugdienst commenced operations in 1956 and is headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany. The airline has a fleet of nearly 50 aircraft, with the Boeing 767-300ER being the largest, flying to 90 destinations. A subsidiary of Lufthansa prior to 2010, Thomas Cook Group acquired the last of the Condor stock from Lufthansa in 2010.
Thomas Cook U.K. was founded in 2003 with the rebranding of JMC Air. The airline is headquartered in Manchester, England and has a fleet of 34 aircraft flying to 72 destinations.
