We’ve had a few firsts over the past week at It’s About Airplanes. Our first Boeing 787-10. Our first Emirates Boeing 777. Now, our first Lufthansa Airbus A330-300. We photographed D-AIKP on June 14, 2020 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

D-AIKP
D-AIKP performed its maiden flight on February 9, 2012. The Airbus A330-343x was delivered to Lufthansa on April 5, 2012. The airliner is named Bottrop.
One of 15 A333 models in the fleet, this aircraft is configured for a maximum total of 255 passengers. There are 42 seats in business class, 28 more in premium economy and 185 economy class seats.

Airbus A330-300
The initial variant of the Airbus A330 Family, the Airbus A330-300 took its maiden flight in November, 1992. The first A333 was introduced with launch customer Air Inter in January, 1994. Air Inter was a French airline that commenced operations in 1958 and ceased ops in 1997 when it was merged into Air France.
The Airbus A330-300 is 64 metres or 209 feet in length with a wingspan of 60 metres or 198 feet. At the tail, the airliner stands 17 metres or 55 feet in height. The flight range is 11,750 kilometres.
Lufthansa
Lufthansa was founded in 1953 and commenced operations in 1955. The airline is headquartered in Cologne, Germany, using Frankfurt and Munich as main hubs. The German airline has a main fleet of nearly 280 aircraft flying to 220 destinations around the world. The fleet is led by Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 747-8 aircraft with still eight Boeing 747-400 remaining, for now.
The airline is a founding member of the Star Alliance. Other founding members include Scandinavian Airlines, Thai Airways, Air Canada and United Airlines. The alliance is headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, Germany and now has 26 full member airlines.
