It’s days might be numbered. F-GSPE is the fifth oldest of 25 Boeing 777-200ER models in the Air France fleet. Word is, they will start replaced the older aircraft with brand Airbus A350-900 airplanes in the near future. We photographed this airliner on October 5, 2019 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

F-GSPE

F-GSPE performed its maiden flight on January 8, 1999. The Boeing 777-228ER was delivered to Air France on January 19, 1999. This aircraft is configured for a maximum total of 312 passengers. There are 28 seats in business class, 24 more in premium economy and 260 economy class seats.

As mentioned this is one of 25 Boeing 777-200ER models in the main fleet. This is currently the fifth oldest of those 25.

On April 3, 2013, the B772 was flying from Los Angeles, California to Papeete, Tahiti. On final approach to the destination, the aircraft flew through a flock of small birds. The airplane continued for a safe landing. Damage was done to one of the engines.

Later that year, on December 3, 2013, F-GSPE was flying from Cape Town, South Africa to Paris, France. On the climb out of Cape Town, the nose gear would not retract. The climb was stopped at 10,000 feet and, after a fuel dump, the airliner returned to Cape Town for a safe landing. It was determined the nose gear safety pin had not been removed prior to takeoff. The flight continued to Paris two hours later.
