Korean Air hasn’t been represented well on this website, to date. HL8083 is just the second aircraft from this airline to be featured. We captured the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on June 9, 2019 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

HL8083

HL8083 performed its first flight on June 27, 2017. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner was delivered to Korean Air July 12, 2017. This B789 is configured for a maximum total of 269 passengers. There are six seats in first class, 18 more in business class and 245 economy class seats. This is one of ten Boeing 787-9 models in the main fleet.

Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner


The first B789 took flight on September 17, 2013 and first entered service with Air New Zealand on July 8, 2014. This aircraft is 63 metres or 206 feet in length, 20 feet longer than the initial Boeing 787-8 variant. Both models share the same 60 metre or 197 foot wingspan. At the tail, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner stands 17 metres or 56 feet in height.

Korean Air

Korean Air was founded in 1946 as Korean National Airlines. The airline is headquartered in Gonghang-Dong, Gangseo-Gu, Seoul, South Korea. Korean Air flies to 150 destinations worldwide with a fleet of nearly 180 aircraft.

The most in the fleet will soon be the Boeing 777-300ER with 20 currently flying and ten more on order. There are ten Airbus A380-800 aircraft in the fleet with no plans to increase that number.

The airline is a founding member of the SkyTeam Alliance, along with AeroMexico, Air France and Delta Air Lines. SkyTeam was established in June, 2000 and has 20 full member airlines in the alliance.
