N478UA
N478UA made its first flight on June 27, 2001 and the Airbus A320-232 was delivered to United Airlines on August 9, 2001. This is one of 97 Airbus A320 aircraft in the main United fleet. On April 13, 2004, N478UA was transferred to UA’s Ted subsidiary. It was returned back to the main fleet on October 1, 2008.
Ted was a brand under United Airlines that existed from 2004 until 2009. Not technically a subsidiary as planes could be substituted back and forth between the main airline and Ted. The name is derived from the last three letters in United.
The brand had a fleet of 56 Airbus A320 aircraft, all configured for 156 passengers in a single class system. Ted traveled to 23 destinations in the United States, Mexico and Puerto Rico taking passengers to vacation locations and operating in the low cost carrier market. The main hub for Ted was Denver International Airport (DEN).
