Coming into Dallas-Fort Worth on Boxing Day in December, 2018, N983AN got whacked by lightning. The plane landed safely but it was kept on the ground for a while. More on that below. We photographed this Boeing 737-800 on April 17, 2019 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

On April 13, 2014, N983AN was flying from Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas to New York City’s JFK airport. While cruising at 37,000 feet, about 170 miles from Indianapolis, Indiana, one of the engines needed to be shut down. The flight was diverted to Indianapolis for a safe landing with just one engine.

More recently, on December 26, 2018, the Boeing 737-800 was flying from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Dallas. On the descent, just past 8,000 feet, the airliner was hit by lightning.
