PH-AKB

PH-AKB performed its first flight on February 20, 2012. The Airbus A330-303 was delivered to KLM Royal Dutch Airlines on March 20, 2012. The airliner is named Piazza Navona-Roma.

This A333 is configured for a maximum total of 292 passengers. There are 30 seats in business class, 40 more in premium economy and 222 economy class seats. This is one of just five Airbus A330-300 models in the main KLM fleet.

On June 6, 2016, PH-AKB was flying from Amsterdam, Netherlands to Havana, Cuba. Cruising at 32,000 feet, 800 miles past Ireland on the crossing of the Atlantic Ocean, it was decided to turn back. The right side engine had its oil decreasing faster than normal.

There was option to divert to Shannon, Ireland. However, the airplane made it back to Amsterdam for a safe landing. This A333 remained grounded for 27 hours before returning to service. PH-AFK, a replacement Airbus A330-300, was brought in to resume the flight to Havana.
