PH-BHO: KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (New In 2018)

These could be the last for some time, or forever, as the airline moves to next fortify the fleet with Boeing 787-10 aircraft in 2019. We photographed PH-BHO on October 7, 2018 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

PH-BHO

PH-BHO performed its first flight on March 8, 2018 and was delivered to KLM Royal Dutch Airlines on March 29, 2018. The Netherlands based airline has named this Boeing 787-9 ‘Orchidee’ (Orchid). The airliner is configured for a maximum total of 294 passengers with 30 seats in business class, 48 more in premium economy and 216 economy class seats. This is one of 13 B789 airplanes in the main KLM fleet.

 




Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

The first B789 took flight on September 17, 2013 and first entered service with Air New Zealand on July 8, 2014. This aircraft is 63 metres or 206 feet in length, 20 feet longer than the initial Boeing 787-8 variant. Both models share the same 60 metre or 197 foot wingspan. At the tail, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner stands 17 metres or 56 feet in height.


KLM Royal Dutch Airlines

Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij, also known as KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, was founded on October 7, 1919. This makes it the oldest airline in the world still operating under its original name. Headquartered in Amstelveen, Netherlands, the airline has a fleet of 119 aircraft flying to 145 destinations around the world.

The airline merged with Air France in 2004 and is a has been a member of the SkyTeam Alliance since that year. SkyTeam was founded in 2000 and now has 20 full member airlines worldwide.
