We photographed the B788 on June 8, 2018 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

SP-LRH

SP-LRH performed its maiden flight on June 28, 2017 and was delivered to LOT Polish Airlines on July 14, 2017. One of eight Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner models in the main fleet, SP-LRH is configured for a maximum total of 252 passengers with 18 seats in business class, 21 more in premium economy and 213 economy class seats.

The aircraft has a special Olympic Games paint job. At the rear is a large logo mixing the Polish flag and the Olympic rings. Above the logo it states, “Proud To Fly The Polish Olympic Team.” At the front of the aircraft, between the first door and the side cockpit window, there is a small Polish Olympic Committee logo, just below the Star Alliance logo.

 




Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner

The initial variant in the Boeing 787 Family, the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner entered service in 2011 with All-Nippon Airways. LOT Polish Airlines was the first European operator of the B788. The aircraft is 57 metres or 186 feet in length, 20 feet shorter than the Boeing 787-9 model. The wingspan is 60 metres or 197 feet while the height at the tail is 17 metres or 56 feet. The flight range is 13,621 kilometres, around 500 KM less than the B789.

 


LOT Polish Airlines

LOT Polish Airlines was founded on December 29, 1928 and is headquartered in Warsaw, Poland. The airline is currently 68% owned by the Polish Government with the idea of privatization swirling around since 2011. LOT has been a member of the Star Alliance since 2011.

The main fleet now has nearly 75 aircraft with the largest being the recently arrived Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner models. There are no aircraft manufactured by Airbus in the fleet. These airliners fly to over 100 destinations around the world. Subsidiaries include LOT Charters and Regional Jet. The main hub for LOT Polish Airlines in Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW).
