SP-LSC: LOT Polish Airlines Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (Just 3rd Flight)

sp-lsc lot polish airlines boeing 787-9 dreamliner toronto pearson yyzWe didn’t quite catch this Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on its first flight but the photos below are from the third commercial flight for SP-LSC. The B789 performed its first round trip for LOT Polish Airlines the previous day, also a run from Warsaw, Poland to Toronto, Ontario. We photographed SP-LSC on June 29, 2018 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

SP-LSC

SP-LSC was delivered to LOT Polish Airlines on June 27, 2018. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is one of four in the fleet with four more on order. The B789 is painted up in a special livery celebrating Poland’s independence. On the sides, a Polish flag bleeds to the back where it states, “Proud of Poland’s Independence.”

This aircraft is configured for a maximum total of 294 passengers. There are 24 seats in business class with 21 more in premium economy and 249 economy class seats.

 




Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

The first B789 took flight on September 17, 2013 and first entered service with Air New Zealand on July 8, 2014. This aircraft is 63 metres or 206 feet in length, 20 feet longer than the initial Boeing 787-8 variant. Both models share the same 60 metre or 197 foot wingspan. At the tail, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner stands 17 metres or 56 feet in height.


LOT Polish Airlines

LOT Polish Airlines was founded on December 29, 1928 and is headquartered in Warsaw, Poland. The airline is currently 68% owned by the Polish Government with the idea of privatization swirling around since 2011. LOT has been a member of the Star Alliance since 2011.

The main fleet now has nearly 75 aircraft with the largest being the recently arrived Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner models. There are no aircraft manufactured by Airbus in the fleet. These airliners fly to over 100 destinations around the world. Subsidiaries include LOT Charters and Regional Jet. The main hub for LOT Polish Airlines in Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW).
