UR-GOC is not our first aircraft featured from Ukraine International Airlines. But, it is the first Boeing 777-200ER. We photographed this B772 on July 27, 2019 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

UR-GOC

UR-GOC performed its first flight on August 20, 2001. The Boeing 777-28EER was first delivered to Asiana Airlines on August 30, 2001 as HL7597. Asiana put the aircraft into storage in December, 2017. The airliner was delivered to UIA on June 7, 2018.

This Boeing 777-200ER has seating for a maximum total of 361 passengers. There are 21 seats in business class, 16 more in premium economy and 324 economy class seats. This is one of three of this model in the fleet.

On November 16, 2004, UR-GOC was flying from Seoul, South Korea to Auckland, New Zealand. On final approach to Auckland, the aircraft landed short of the threshold on an area of the runway where maintenance crews had bee working. There was no damage or injuries as a result but procedure was questioned in what could have been a serious incident.

Boeing 777-200ER

The ‘extended range’ version of the Boeing 777-200, the Boeing 777-200ER has a flight range of 13,080 kilometres. This is 3,400 KM more than the base -200 but nearly 3,000 KM less than the Boeing 777-200LR version.

The aircraft is 64 metres or 209 feet in length with a wingspan of 61 metres or 200 feet. At the tail, the airplane stands 19 metres or 61 feet in height. This variant was first introduced in 1997 with British Airways as the launch customer.

Ukraine International Airlines

Ukraine International Airlines was founded on October 1, 1992 and is headquartered in Kiev, Ukraine. UIA has a fleet of over 40 aircraft. The most numerous is the Boeing 737-800 while the largest is the Boeing 777-200ER.

UIA flies to 88 destinations, mostly in Europe, Asia and Northern Africa. However, they do have two destinations in North America. Ukraine International Airlines currently flies into Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada and New York’s JKF Airport in the United States.
