VT-JET is under its third different registration number with Jet Airways since first flying in 2007. Over the years, this Boeing 777-300ER has been leased out to some pretty prominent airlines. The B77W has been back with Jet Airways since 2016. We photographed this aircraft on December 15, 2018 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

VT-JET
VT-JET performed its first flight on April 11, 2007 and was first delivered to Jet Airways on May 2, 2007 as VT-JEA. From May, 2010 to June, 2013, the Boeing 777-35RER flew for Thai Airways as HS-TKG. It followed that gig up with a stint with THY Turkish Airlines from June, 2013 until November, 2014 as VT-JEN.
From December, 2014 until August, 2016, the B77W flew for Etihad Airways as A6-JAC. Since August, 2016, the airliner has been back in the Jet Airways fleet as VT-JET.
This Boeing 777-300ER is configured for a maximum total of 346 passengers with eight seats in first class, 30 more in business class and 308 economy class seats. This is one of ten B77W models in the fleet, with VT-JET being the oldest.
Boeing 777-300ER
The Boeing 777-300ER was first delivered to launch customer Air France in 2004, nearly a decade after the initial 777 variant was introduced with United Airlines in 1995. The ER is for ‘extended range’ and this aircraft can fly a lofty 13,650 kilometres between stops.
The B77W is 74 metres or 242 feet in length with a wingspan of 65 metres or 213 feet. At the tail, the airliner is 19 metres or 61 feet in height. Though not the most glamorous of the big airplanes, the Boeing 777-300ER is longer than both the Boeing 747-400 (by 10 feet) and Airbus A380-800 (by 3 feet).
Jet Airways
Jet Airways was founded in 1992 and commenced operations on May 5, 1993. The airline is headquartered in Mumbai, India. They currently have a fleet of 124 aircraft, flying to nearly 70 destinations. The largest in the fleet is the Boeing 777-300ER and the most of any one model is the Boeing 737-800 with over 70. However, those B738 models are slated to be replaced by Boeing 737 MAX 8 airliners in the near future. The airline also has ten Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner airplanes on order.
The airline is a member of the Etihad Partners Alliance. The eight members include Etihad Airways, Etihad Regional, Alitalia, Jet Airways, Air Seychelles, Air Siberia and NIKI. All eight have at least a minority ownership by Etihad.
