C-FDSU, and the rest of Air Canada’s Airbus A320-200, are winding down as the Canadian airline’s most numerous aircraft. Currently, there are 42 in the main fleet but that number will be reduced by eleven in 2019. We photographed this A320 on July 2, 2017 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

C-FDSU
C-FDSU performed its maiden flight on October 26, 1990 and was delivered to Air Canada on January 11, 1991. This Airbus A320-211 is configured for a maximum total of 146 passengers with 14 business class seats and 132 more in economy class.
On March 16, 2013, the A320 was flying from Toronto, Ontario to West Palm Beach, Florida. On departure from YYZ, the climb was halted at 5,000 feet after an issue was detected with the left side generator. C-FDSU was diverted back to Toronto for a safe landing. The left side generator had failed and could not be reset. As a result, the left side integrated drive generator cable harness was replaced.
About a year and half later, the Airbus A320-200 was flying from Montreal, Quebec to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. At 34,000 feet, just southwest of Norfolk, Virginia, an avionics smoke indication was received. The airliner diverted to Norfolk as a precaution. No trace of fire, smoke or heat was found. As a result, the avionics equipment ventilation computer was replaced.
The following year, on August 30, 2015, this A320 was flying from Fort McMurray, Alberta to Toronto. Flying at 37,000 feet, an “ENG 1 THR LEVER DISAGREE” message was received. The airplane continued to its destination for a safe landing. This incident resulted in the replacement of the thrust control unit.
Airbus A320-200
The initial variant in the Airbus A320 Family, the Airbus A320-200 was introduced with launch customer Air France in 1988. Since, nearly 4,400 have been delivered. The airliner is 38 metres or 123 feet in length with a wingspan of 36 metres or 118 feet. At the tail, the airplane is 12 metres or 39 feet in height. The flight range is 6,100 kilometres.
