Would we have flown to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic on C-FHZZ in April? We’ll never know with our vacation cancelled by Sunwing due to the Covid-19 madness. We photographed this Boeing 737-800 on March 15, 2020 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

C-FHZZ
C-FHZZ performed its first flight on December 7, 2011. The Boeing 737-8K5 was first delivered to Thomson Airways on December 21, 2011 as G-FDZZ. Thomson became TUI Airways in October, 2017.
This aircraft was first seasonally leased to Sunwing over the 2013-14 winter season. It again came across the Atlantic for 2015-16, 2017-18 and 2019-20. It was last delivered to the Canadian sunshine destination charter airline on November 25, 2019. This airliner is configured for a maximum total of 189 passengers, all in a single class set-up.

The most popular variant in the Boeing 737 Next Generation Family, there have been over 4,500 Boeing 737-800 models delivered to airlines around the world. The first B738 entered service in 1998. The aircraft is a direct competitor to the Airbus A320-200.

Sunwing
Sunwing Airlines was founded and commenced operations in 2005. The airline is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario and flies to over 70 sunshine destinations in the United States, Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean.
Sunwing has a fleet of 34 aircraft. The fleet consists mostly of Boeing 737-800 models with four Boeing 737 MAX 8 models (currently grounded) also now flying for this Canadian charter airline.
