C-GUDH was the first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to be delivered to WestJet Airlines. This is also the first of WestJet’s B789 aircraft to be featured here on the site. We photographed this airliner on April 17, 2019 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

C-GUDH
C-GUDH performed its first flight on January 5, 2019 and was delivered to WestJet Airlines on January 17, 2019. This is the first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to enter the fleet. There are now seven in total.
This B789 is configured for a maximum total of 320 passengers. There are 16 seats in business class, 28 more in premium economy and 276 economy class seats. Rival Air Canada has a less dense version of the Boeing 787-9 that has a capacity for 298 passengers.

Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner
The first B789 took flight on September 17, 2013 and first entered service with Air New Zealand on July 8, 2014. This aircraft is 63 metres or 206 feet in length, 20 feet longer than the initial Boeing 787-8 variant. Both models share the same 60 metre or 197 foot wingspan. At the tail, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner stands 17 metres or 56 feet in height.
WestJet
Founded in 1996, WestJet is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. The Canadian airline has a fleet of nearly 170 aircraft. The largest in the fleet is the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The airline is the largest remaining operator of the Boeing 737-600. WestJet flies to nearly 110 destinations in Canada, the United States, Europe, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
Not included is new ultra low cost carrier subsidiary Swoop. Swoop began service in June, 2018 with a small fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft and now mostly flying Boeing 737 MAX 8 models. Swoop will cease to exist at the end of October, 2023 with its aircraft integrated back into the mainline. Also to be integrated in the near future will be the fleet of Sunwing.
