ET-AUP was new to Ethiopian Airlines in late 2017. A year later, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner had a wing badly damaged when it struck a light tower at a de-icing station in Oslo, Norway. We photographed this B789 on September 12, 2020 while plane spotting at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

ET-AUP

ET-AUP performed its first flight on November 12, 2017. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner was delivered to Ethiopian Airlines on November 21, 2017. The aircraft is named London and is one of six B789 models currently in the fleet with four more on order.

This airliner is configured for a maximum total of 315 passengers. There are 30 seats in business class and 285 economy class seats.

On December 18, 2018, a little confusion at Oslo Gardermoen Airport cost ET-AUP a wing. The Boeing 787-9 entered the wrong de-icing stand and took out a light standard, causing major damage to the wing. The flight was destined for Stockholm, Sweden and then Addis Ababa, Ethiopia but, obviously, the flight had to be cancelled.
